چکیده
Abstract Carbon fibre composites have great potential for vehicle lightweighting but the high cost and environmental impact of their production tends to largely undermine advantages in non-aerospace applications. Recycled has significantly reduce both yet it not been widely accepted by industry due reduced mechanical performance components as well difficulties handling processing caused fluffy discontinuous form which is quite unlike any current material formats suit existing methods. The developed alignment process allows random recycled carbon be processed into tapes with a highly aligned orientation distribution. This content manufactured at lower moulding pressures added benefit keeping length degradation minimum. To evaluate effects factors on orientation, two-level full factorial experimental plan was designed. represents first time systematic study input parameters final part published open literature. With further improvements process, shown that possible manufacture composite achieving volume (46%) under 7 bar pressure an autoclave, exhibiting competitive properties almost 100 GPa tensile modulus over 800 MPa strength.

Characterization of Laccase-Treated Kenaf Fibre Reinforced Recycled Polypropylene Composites
Raw and laccase-treated kenaf fibre (KF) were used individually to reinforce recycled polypropylene (RPP) using extrusion and injection moulding. Laccase was used to modify the surface of the fibre to improve the compatibility between fibre and matrix. Enzyme concentration and soaking time were considered as the treatment parameters. Maleic anhydride grafted polypropylene (MAPP) was used with a...
متن کاملImage Characterization of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Composites
A new methodology to detect fibres orientation in composite materials, using image processing tools is introduced. Several examples with manufacturing defects are studied using RIMAPS technique and the Variogram method. The characterization is made from digitized images of the samples. Combined use of RIMAPS and Variogram analyses identified the orientation of fibres and determined the values o...
متن کاملNDT characterisation of carbon-fibre and glass-fibre composites using non-invasive imaging techniques
The prerequisite for more competent and cost effective transport has led to the evolution of innovative testing and evaluation procedures. Non-destructive testing and evaluation (NDT & E) techniques for assessing the integrity of composite structures are essential to both reduce manufacturing costs and out of service time of transport means due to maintenance. Smart methods for assessing the in...
